The sound of ice cracking

Late, again. I had promised these photos for last week, but I had to wait. The ice is long gone now, burned and blown away. I saved some on film where it can live forever. Just like the sound of those thousands of frozen skins cracking. That’s in my head. And while you’re at it, you can listen to this. You can do other stuff in the meantime too of course.

Many things are frozen in our part of the world these days. Some of them are living things. When the wind comes, you can hear the ice cracking as they bend and break free, if you just listen carefully. Or you can also listen to this.

I took cameras and music out for a cold Sunday walk. This is a digital teaser, the ones shot on film to be developed at some point this week. Maybe. Now you should really go outside.

Winter Wonderland

Vienna was a winter wonderland today. It was snowing all morning and it was all white and fresh and quiet and lovely. So I went out to the hills surrounding Vienna. When your fingers hurt like hell while thawing, you know that you’re alive. Brrr.

On a technical note, as you can see, I was fooling around with HDR software and creamy yellow filters a bit. It’s fun.

LUMA playing at the Tunnel tonight, am very much looking forward to that.

It took only ten minutes until I had to go indoor again as the camera in my hand was already almost as frozen as the rest of the outside world is today. On this winter sunday.

You know it’s a cold day, when you can’t look outside of your frozen window in the early morning hours, altough it has not been snowing. Cold is the new warm!

Snowboarding is good fun. Days without a single cloud and -8°C are good fun. These combined, it makes a pretty awesome day.
